I’m a Mumbai-based independent musician.
I find unique folk instruments like the didgeridoo, morchang (jaw harp), kalimba, ravanhatta, sullur, etc. very fascinating. This search for new and unique instruments led me to learn around 25 instruments in a decade. I completed a Music Production course from Flying Chords Academy in 2019.
Music to me defies boundaries, so confining it to genres doesn’t feel right. I sit, feel, and vibe with whatever the song demands. Just listening and figuring things out on my own—without conventional learning methods—has perhaps been the reason I pick up on new genres and instruments very quickly. I do adhere to the rules and laws of music, but only as a springboard and communication language to create something completely new. My goal is to build a musical army to spread peace and love, and to collaborate, learn, create, and keep experimenting with sounds and genres.
My influences: Lucky Ali, A.R. Rahman, Amit Trivedi, The Beatles, Coldplay, Steven Wilson, Dream Theater, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, S.D. Burman, M.M. Keeravani, Ilaiyaraaja, and many indie artists.
About my last single
Using music to awaken, change, and enlighten has always been my goal—and Aazadi Bachpan is my first humble attempt at doing the same. Aazadi Bachpan is protest poetry. The protest is against child labour. It’s a demand for the freedom of children’s innocence—their right to education, healthcare, and well-being. The genre is an experimental mix of country, folk, freestyle, and elements of pop sub-genres like pop-rock and indie-pop. I look forward to making more such meaningful music.
